Daily Announcements (Recap Email)

Congregate’s daily announcements/recap feature can allow members to post their own announcements (that both appear on your website and can collectively be emailed to members once per day) from the daily announcements page in the members portion of your site. This consolidates daily updates, announcements, etc. into one email for members and a single page on your site to view the current day’s updates. This feature was designed to reduce the number of emails sent to members on a daily basis containing non-urgent information and quick updates by leaders and/or members. Be sure to include the daily announcements in user account permissions if you wish to allow members to view and/or post daily announcements via the member section of your website.

Creating a Daily Announcement

    1. To create a new announcement, click “New” under News and Events > Daily Announcements inside of Congregate Admin.
    2. Select the date for your announcement. This date can be in the future and Congregate will automatically post the announcement on the date selected.
    3. Provide a title for your announcement in the “Title” field.
    4. Add the body/content of your announcement in the “Content” field.
    5. Select the member to whom the announcement is credited (i.e., who posted the announcement).
    6. Click “Add” to save and/or post your announcement. Click “Cancel” to cancel.

Displaying/Viewing Announcements

To display daily announcements on your website, select the member page you wish to display your announcements on via the “Announcements Page” selection dropdown on the “Options” page under News and Events > Daily Announcements in Congregate Admin.

If you do not wish to show or use daily announcements, simply select “None.”

Managing Announcements

To manage daily announcements, click “Manage” under News and Events > Daily Announcements inside of Congregate Admin. There you will find a list of all your announcements, including posts that are posted and/or scheduled. 

To edit an announcement, simply click its title or edit icon.

To permanently remove an announcement, click its trashcan icon.

To bulk update announcements, check the checkboxes next to the applicable announcements and select the following from the “Checkbox Options” dropdown menu: delete. Then click “Apply.”

Managing Recap Subscribers

As a Congregate administrator, you have the ability to subscribe and unsubscribe members from receiving the daily recap email. Members with permission can also elect to subscribe or unsubscribe from the email directly on their account settings page.

Simply select “Subscribed” or “Unsubscribed” from the dropdown menu next to each member. To bulk subscribe or unsubscribe all members, use the “Subscribe All” and “Unsubscribe All” buttons.

Click “Save” to save or “Cancel” to cancel your changes.

Daily Announcements Options

Selecting a Display Page

Use the dropdown menu to select the page your daily announcements should appear on. If you do not wish to use daily announcements, select “None” from the dropdown menu to disable it. This is also the page members (with permission) will post their own daily announcements and where they can view previous days’ announcements. 

Selecting the Automated Recap Email Send Time

Select the time of day you wish for the daily announcements recap email to be sent to subscribers. Note that announcements posted after the send time will appear on the following day’s email. It is recommended the email be sent late in the day to ensure important same-day announcements appear on that day’s email.

Email Subject

Enter the subject you wish to use for the daily announcements recap email.
