Installing the App

iOS/Apple Devices

Android Devices

Search for and download “Congregate Daily” in the Google Play Store on your device.

Configuring and Using the App (iOS/Android)

    1. Open the app and sign in. On the welcome screen you have three choices: (1) Log In if you already have an account. Enter your email, tap Send Verification Code, then type the 6-digit code we email you and tap Continue. (2) Create Account to set up a new account with your name and email, then verify with the emailed code. (3) Continue as Guest to start reading right away without an account. You can create an account later from Settings and keep your progress.
    2. Choose a reading plan. The first time you use the app, pick a plan on the “Choose a Reading Plan” screen (see Reading Plans below), then tap Start Reading. You can change plans anytime in Settings.
    3. Read today’s passage. The Daily tab opens to “Today’s Reading.” At the top you will see the day, a greeting, and a colored card showing the day number, the passage reference, the era, and the place. Below the card is the plain-language summary. Estimated summary and full-read times are shown on the card.
    4. Open the tools for the day. From the Daily screen you can open any of the following for the current passage: Read (the full scripture), Location (map), Timeline, Quotes, Quiz, Notes, and Share. On a tablet in landscape these appear in a panel to the right of the summary.
    5. Move between days. Use Previous Day and Next Day on the Daily screen, or open the Schedule tab to jump to any day and mark days complete.
    6. Adjust your settings. Open the Settings tab (bottom right) to set your name, daily reminder time, default translation, plan, plan start date, and light or dark mode (see Settings and Preferences below).

Reading Plans

Choose the plan that fits how you want to move through the Bible. Each plan has its own start date and its own progress.

    • Chronological reads the Bible in the order the events happened (365 days).
    • Canonical reads the Bible in book order (365 days).
    • New Testament reads Matthew to Revelation (90 days).
    • Old Testament reads Genesis to Malachi (180 days).

To change your plan or its start date, open Settings, tap Plan, choose a plan, and confirm. You can set your own start date under My Plan Start Date.

Daily Reading

The Daily tab is the heart of the app. It shows the summary for the day, with tools for going deeper.

    • Summary is a short, plain-language overview of the passage that reports what the text says.
    • Read opens the full scripture text. Use the translation tabs at the top to switch between ASV, KJV, and WEB. Your default translation is set in Settings.
    • Location shows a map of where the events take place, with the place names for the day.
    • Timeline places the day’s reading in the larger flow of biblical history.
    • Quotes shows memorable verses tied to the passage.
    • Quiz offers a few quick questions to review what you read.
    • Notes lets you write and save your own notes for the passage. Notes sync to your account and can be exported from Settings.
    • Share creates a shareable image of the passage, reading, or a quote, with a color you choose.

Schedules and Progress

Open the Schedule tab to see your plan laid out as a calendar.

    1. Tap any day to open that day’s reading.
    2. Mark a day complete to track your progress.
    3. Your streak and totals update as you go.

Progress is tied to the active plan. If you switch between your own plan and a group plan, each keeps its own separate progress.

Co-Reading Groups

Co-reading lets you read the same plan alongside friends, family, or a class, with a shared chat.

    • Create or join a group from the Co-Reading tab. To invite others, open the group and share the invite. To join, use the invite you were sent.
    • Chat with your group in the message threads. There is a general thread and a thread for the current day’s reading.
    • My Plan or the group’s plan. When you belong to a group, a switch appears at the top of the Daily and Schedule screens labeled My Plan and the group’s name. Use it to move between your own personal plan and the group’s plan. Each has its own progress, so your personal reading and the group reading stay separate.
    • Group settings let you view members and manage the group.

If you are not in a group, or you have only a personal plan, the switch is hidden and the app simply shows your plan.
